Locked/Unlocked Components

While designing a network, Designer HFC's optimization engine determines the ideal components to place as you design.

If you explicitly place a component in the network, that component becomes locked and will not be automatically optimized. Additionally, any locked components that are uploaded to GIS will be retained as locked when the design is re-opened. You can change the name of locked components.

The following shows a tap that was placed after the optimization engine determined the most ideal one to place:

The following shows a splitter that was explicitly chosen to replace the existing tap. The splitter is automatically locked from optimization:

If you want to unlock a placed component, click on the component and select the Unlock Component  button on the Component tab.
