User Interface

The DHFC user interface is composed of a strand map view inside a heads up display (HUD).

Strand Map

The strand map contains the map and the main menu. You will design your coax network in the map using tools from the Tool Ribbon.

The HUD displays pertinent information regarding the current design. Tabs along the left side of the application control the information that DHFC displays in the map to the right. Underneath the map is a one-line sketch of the leg you are currently working on within the design.

Undocking the HUD

You can right-click the HUD and select Float to separate the HUD from the map. Once separated, you can move the HUD around the screen or to a second monitor. When undocked from the map, the HUD contains and displays the individual panes in its own window, which can be moved to a second monitor.

The following is a screenshot of the HUD on the left undocked from the map on the right:

Individual panes within the HUD can be undocked by selecting Float from the pane's menu. When you click a pane in the HUD, its title bar turns green and activates its menu, which is denoted by a down-facing  pointer in the upper right of the pane.

Float: Available when an individual pane is currently docked. Select Float to have the pane move independent of the HUD.

Dock: Available for a pane that is currently floating. Select Dock to have the window dock back inside the HUD.

To redock an undocked pane, when moving the pane within the undocked HUD, release the mouse button over the docking icon to have the pane occupy a spot on the top, bottom, middle, left, or right of the HUD. If you want to dock a pane back into the HUD, look for the docking icon that will help you reposition the pane:

TIP: The docking selections you make within the HUD persist between sessions of Designer HFC.
