Delete (Remove) Components: Marquee Select vs. Inspect Tool

You can select components with either the Inspect tool or the Marquee Select tool. And, once components are selected, you can delete them (if they are part of your design). There are subtle differences between these two tools discussed in this topic.

Both Tools

Keep the following in mind when using these tools to delete components:

  • Regardless of the tool, you can only delete components that are part of your design. You cannot delete existing components that have already been pushed to the GIS and given an Esri Object ID.

  • The Remove option on the Click Wheel is the same function as pressing the Delete key.

  • If the Remove option is not on the Click Wheel (or if the Delete key is not doing anything), the most likely reason is a component that has already been pushed to the GIS and given an Esri Object ID is selected or is part of a multi-selection. As stated, these cannot be deleted with these tools within the application.

Inspect Tool

Keep the following in mind when using the Inspect tool to delete components:

  • The Inspect tool can select from the RF network and stranding network, one network at a time. In other words, you cannot actively select from both networks at the same time.

  • You can use the Ctrl key to select multiple components.

  • The tool can delete from the stranding network if it is stranding you have sketched as a part of your design. It cannot delete existing stranding that was imported into your design.

  • If you delete stranding you have sketched, the application automatically deletes associated RF network components.

Marquee Select Tool

Keep the following in mind when using the Marquee Select tool to delete components:

  • The Marquee Select tool only interacts with the RF network components. It does not select from the stranding network, even if it is stranding you have sketched.
