Install and Configure Edge Service

With all the necessary components installed, the Edge Service is configured to “speak to” and connect all the services.

IMPORTANT: This topic discusses installing the Edge Service as an on-premises service. For a hosted alternative, see the topic A Hosted Edge Implementation.

The Edge Service automatically load balances Azure Service Bus requests between different instances of the service using the same configuration settings.

To install and configure the Edge Service, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the myArcFM page ArcFM Designer XI.

  2. Under Downloads, click Designer Edge Service to download the installer.

NOTE: In the previous implementation step, you will need the Designer Storage Service installer. So, while you are on the myArcFM page, you can download that installer too.
  3. Execute the installer.

  4. After a successful installation, navigate to the following directory: C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric\Designer Edge Service

  5. Locate the EdgeService.Settings.config file.

  6. Edit the file in an application such as Notepad ++.

  7. There are several values that need to be populated:

    • Organization name

    • Service bus connection string

    • Workflow instance store

    • Process Framework information

IMPORTANT: Regarding the Process Framework information, see the topic Separate PX Framework for Gas and Electric for further information.
    • SDE information

    • Connection path to the Schema.xml file

    • Connection path to the Catalog and Workflow folders

    • API key, which needs the following roles (see the topic User API Keys for Services for more information):

      • Designer.Admin

      • Monitoring.Reporter

      • Editor.Admin (This role is needed for the Edge API Key to create an Editor XI Session when using the Utility Network)

  8. Save the config file.
