Publish Feature Services for Various Functions
Designer XI utilizes published feature services in many configurations, tools, and functions, including:
-
The Network Feature Service: This is the network of features against which end users create their designs.
-
Backdrops: These are the background maps that provide context and visuals for the design.
-
The Map Notation Feature Service: This allows end users to place map notes and dimension lines within their designs.
-
Reference Views: These are subsets of specific layers pulled from Backdrops. They are typically created to allow end users to turn on and off specific background features while working on a design.
-
Work Areas: These are the design footprints of other designers’ work. They give the end user context of where other people are working in the same environment.
-
Add Data Tool: This tool allows the end user to bring nearby feeders or regions into their current design without having to re-create the work order.
