Federate Portal for ArcGIS Against an ArcGIS Server Instance

Federated security allows for clean separation between the service a client is accessing and the associated authentication and authorization procedures. Federated security also enables collaboration across multiple systems, networks, and organizations in different trust realms.

Before configuring server federation within Portal for ArcGIS, you first need to create a local firewall rule to allow inbound port 6443 traffic to the ArcGIS Server, then create a rule to allow inbound port 7443 traffic to Portal for ArcGIS.
