Edit Log

The Edit Log report shows all edits made in the currently open session or design. It is available as a button on the ArcFM Session Manager and Designer Workflow Manager toolbars, and as a task in the ArcFM Process Tasks list (Edit Log Report).

IMPORTANT:

This means there are two tools named “Open Edit Log .” One is for ArcFM Session Manager, and the other is for Designer Workflow Manager.

For this reason, be careful not to mix up the two if you are customizing the toolbars. For example, if you place the ArcFM Session Manager Edit Log Report tool on a design-oriented toolbar, it does not track edits performed in a design and remains inactive. If you do move the Open Edit Log tools onto different toolbars, we recommend renaming the tools to denote which one works with sessions and which one works with designs. To rename a tool, click the Customize Menu > Customize Mode. Then, right-click the tool to access configurable options including Name.

Finally, if you have moved the tools and can no longer tell which is which, we recommend resetting the toolbars back to the default.

Use the Zoom and Highlight buttons on this report to navigate to and view edits. These tools are not available on features that have been deleted.

TIP: Changes made by ArcObjects and autoupdaters are included in the Edit Log. For example, if the field editor deletes a pole that has a related JointUseAttachment, the autoupdater will update the related object. This related object, while not deleted by the field user, will be included in the Edit Log Report.

If your tool remains inactive (grayed out) even after performing edits, it is likely because of two possible reasons:

  • The Open Edit Log tools are mixed up. See the Important note above.

  • The tool itself is missing configuration pieces. This tool requires two Process Framework subtasks to work. See these Configuration Guide topics:

The Edit Log comes with a style sheet EditHistory.xsl, which by default is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Miner and Miner\ArcFM Solution\Bin\Style Sheets\. There, you can modify the look and feel of the log.
