Design Attachments
Under the currently chosen design, you can find attached PDFs of the design under Design Attachments.
The PDF of the design appears here when you click the Attach Construction Drawing tool on the Layout tab. See the topic Layout Tab Toolbar for more information about this tool.
After you click the Attach Construction Drawing tool on the Layout tab, the PDF is saved in your company’s Storage Service, but it is not yet available to you locally. The PDF appears grayed out and cannot be downloaded locally yet.
To be able to download a local copy, follow these steps:
-
Click either the Download
tool or the
tool. This downloads the PDF from the Storage Service and into the Design Attachments.
-
Notice the PDF icon is now colorful and active.
-
Click the PDF icon to download the file locally. After you click the icon, the PDF automatically opens.
TIP: The PDFs are saved locally in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\ArcFMDesigner_qybjwhg5w8jy8\LocalCache\Roaming\SE\Attachments or C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\SE\Attachments (the file directory path is different depending on when you first installed the application). Given the complexity of the file path, it is likely easier to just click the PDF icon, and have the application open the file for you.
Good to Know
-
Because you can click the Attach Construction Drawing tool on the Layout tab multiple times, Design Attachments alerts you when the visible PDF is not the most current:
-
If you have multiple attachments, click
to download all the most recently-saved attachments locally.
IMPORTANT: Why would there be multiple files? When you use the tool Attach Construction Drawing, it saves the PDF on the Designer Storage Service. This makes the PDF available to other applications such as Mobile XI and Editor XI. Then, those applications can add markups to the PDF, save the file, and send it back to Designer XI. Thus, you could have the original PDF and the “marked up” PDF available to you under Design Attachments.
