Introduction

Designer XI is part of the ArcFM XI Ecosystem, the premier GIS solution for designing, modeling, and maintaining utility assets and critical network information. The ArcFM XI applications work together to promote transparency, communication, and collaboration, and help you quickly deliver services to your customers.

Designer XI focuses on making a designer’s life easier, providing a simple and efficient user interface for quickly creating informed and effective designs. You can work with Designer XI online or offline so that you have the flexibility to create designs in the field as well as in the office. The application also provides the ability to connect to enterprises for secure and seamless transfers of design information to and from other systems.

This user guide walks you through the workflows for important tasks such as installing new services, designing service extensions, electric overhead to underground conversions, and advanced mapping and printing.

IMPORTANT: A basemap is required for the application to be able to open a design. If you are connected to the internet, then it can stream a basemap. However, if you are planning on doing work while disconnected from the internet, then you must download a package prior to going offline. Go to My Work > Settings to download a package that includes a basemap.
