Annotation in Reference Views

Designer XI supports annotation in a Reference View.

Annotation type is determined when the operational map service is published. Select “Annotation Layer” as the annotation type. The application does not support the annotation type “Annotation SubLayer”. To verify the annotation type of a published map, open the map URL and click on an annotation layer. If you don’t have the map URL, you can find it by selecting the published service in Solution Center > Mapping plugin > Operational Maps.

NOTE: When choosing layers to create the Reference View, pay attention to the numbers in parentheses. The numbers are the layer IDs from the underlying published map service. In this manner, you can double-check you are choosing the correct annotation layer, especially if an Annotation SubLayer happens to be named the same as an Annotation Layer.
