Non-Drawn CU Types

A Non-Drawn CU is any CU with a cost, but no drawn feature on the map. A common example is labor, which can be added directly to a Work Location. Non-Drawn CUs can also include items like bolts, brackets, clamps, braces, and other supporting pieces of equipment that are not drawn on the map.

By default, if a designer uses the Add an Install CU tool, the CU Search presents all the Non-Drawn CUs available in the system. This list can be extensive. While the designer can search by Name, Description, or WMS Code, you can assist the designer even more by creating Non-Drawn CU Types. This allows the designer to filter the list down to relevant Non-Drawn CUs, like the CU Categories filter Driving CUs and Macro CUs. Your company can create any Non-Drawn CU Types you want, and the following image is just an example:

In this configuration step, you create the list of values (for example, in the image above, there are four values in the drop-down). Later, you assign these values to actual Non-Drawn CUs.

To create the Non-Drawn CU Types, follow these steps:

  1. In Solution Center, click Designer > Catalog > Non-Drawn CU Types.

  2. Click the Add button.

  3. Type a short, descriptive name for the Non-Drawn CU Type. This name is visible in the client application, so ensure it is understandable for users.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Repeat, as needed.

If that seems pretty simple...it is. But, that’s just the beginning. Keep reading through the sub-topics to learn how to actually associate the Non-Drawn CU Types to actual CUs. Further, you can even couple CU Categories with Non-Drawn CU types.
