Assign Non-Drawn CU Types to Non-Drawn CUs

Once you have your Non-Drawn CU Types created, you can assign them to actual Non-Drawn CUs.

IMPORTANT: Non-Drawn CU Type is a required field.
  • If you are implementing the application for the first time, establishing the Non-Drawn CU Type is part of the initial implementation process. The Type is included during CU migration.

  • If you are an established customer, these topics are particularly important, as they describe how to associate the Types with existing Non-Drawn CUs that do not yet have a Type. Once you are comfortable with the process by assigning some Types individually, the Assign in Bulk will be valuable to get your Non-Drawn CUs fully configured.

Assign Individually

If you only need to assign a handful of Non-Drawn CU Types, then you can accomplish this quickly within Solution Center. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. In Solution Center, click Designer > Catalog > Compatible Unit

  2. Use the Search field to locate the Non-Drawn CU that requires the Type. In this example, “drone” produced one match.

  3. By Non-Drawn CU Type, use the drop-down to assign the appropriate Non-Drawn CU Type.

NOTE: If you do not see the Non-Drawn CU, you may be viewing a Drawn CU. The Type is only available for Non-Drawn CUs.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Repeat for other Non-Drawn CUs, as needed.

  6. When you are finished, in Designer > Catalog > Catalog Cache, click Update Cache for Compatible Units and Macro Compatible Units.

The end user is now able to filter by the Non-Drawn CU Type in the CU Search, which could quickly reduce a list of potentially thousands of Non-Drawn CUs to a manageable number.

Assign in Bulk

If you have numerous Non-Drawn CU Types to assign, using the Export and Import functionality is the way to go. When you run an Export for your Compatible Units, notice there is a column devoted to Non-Drawn CU Types:

Thus, you can populate the Non-Drawn CU Types in Excel, then perform an Import to update your Non-Drawn CUs.

Keep the following in mind:

  • The Non-Drawn CU Type must exist in Solution Center before you attempt to Import. You cannot create unrecognized Types within Excel.

  • Each Non-Drawn CU is allowed only one Type. In other words, the cells in Excel should contain only one Type.

  • When you are finished, in Designer > Catalog > Catalog Cache, click Update Cache for Compatible Units and Macro Compatible Units.
