IFTTT
IFTTT, or “If This, Then That”, is a web-based automation platform that enables users to create custom connections between various apps, services, and devices using conditional statements.
The IFTTT supports a wide array of services, including social media, smart home devices, and productivity tools.
Overall, IFTTT streamlines digital workflows by automating tasks across different applications and services.
Applets
Users can design applets (automations), which consist of a trigger (the “if this” part) that initiates an action (the “then that” part).
An applet is a small application designed to run within another application, typically a web browser. It is often written in Java and can be embedded in an HTML page to provide interactive features like animations, games, or other dynamic content. Applets are executed on the client side, allowing for a more responsive user experience.
An example of an applet is a Java-based calculator embedded in a web page or a weather widget that displays real-time weather updates and forecasts.
For instance, you can set an applet to play a Spotify playlist when you turn on your bedroom light or receive a notification if the kids set the temperature too high.
