Fault Reset

Not all protection pickups necessarily result in a protection trip. Where trip timers are involved, the quantity that caused the pickup may drop back below a reset threshold setting before the trip timer expires. This is known as a Fault Reset.

A configurable Fault Reset Time setting determines how long the quantity that caused the pickup must be below the reset threshold setting before the fault is reset. So if the quantity dips below the reset threshold setting for less than the Fault Reset Time setting, the fault will not reset.
