Single Shot

If Auto Reclosing is not required, Auto Reclose can be turned off and the ACR will operate as a conventional circuit breaker. In this case the ACR is said to be in Single Shot mode.

Even when a device is normally operated in automatic reclose mode, there may be some circumstances where auto reclosing is not required.

For example, if a fault is detected as soon as the ACR is closed, that fault is unlikely to be of a transient nature. This situation is handled by causing a manual close to put the ACR into Single Shot mode for a configured time. So if the switchgear is closed onto a fault manually, it will trip and go directly to lockout even though Auto Reclose is On.
